This year we have to spend Easter at home. So that we do not lose the illusion and the festive atmosphere of these days, and enjoy them as they deserve, we can once again use our imagination. There are many things we can do to celebrate Easter, whether we are a family with children, without children or alone. To inspire you, we give you ten ideas.

1. Decorating Easter eggs It is a fun craft in which we can put all our imagination to work and apply different styles and materials: stickers, flowers, paint, confetti, cardboard… We can make rabbit-shaped eggs, with messages, recreating characters stories or movies

2. Print and color pictures with Easter motifs Coloring is an entertaining and relaxing activity, suitable for all ages. Just by doing a Google or Pinterest search for “coloring Easter images”, we will have a multitude of material that we can print, color and use to decorate the house

3. Mold rabbits and eggs with plasticine Plasticine is another of the basic materials that many of us have at home when there are children. So why not make Easter themed figurines? Rabbits, eggs, flowers, other animals… anything goes. There are many options for the little ones to entertain themselves these days.

4. Cooking typical dishes of these dates Torrijas, pestiños, buñuelos de viento, borrachuelos, donuts, cod dishes, spinach with chickpeas… Being at home we do not have to deprive ourselves of enjoying these fantastic dishes and typical sweets of Easter. Prepare them for yourself if you are alone, with your family or you can even organize a contest to give it a little more fun and excitement.

5. Make our own Easter Mona The Easter Mona is a tradition in many Spanish regions, and children are very excited because they love it and it means spending a special day with the family. Since this year is special, our mona can also be, made by ourselves.

6. Search for Easter eggs around the house. It is a traditional game typical of this era. We can hide them and let the children find them or use the treasure map technique to do it collaboratively using clues. They can also be searched in the dark… Imagination to power!

7. Egg races We can create a ramp with a piece of wood on top of some books. We place the egg on top and let it roll down the ramp to see which egg goes the furthest. Another option for racing with eggs is to place the egg on a spoon and do some fun activity (races, movements) trying not to make it fall.

8. Games with family or friends Spending time with the family is a treasure, and games where everyone participates is a very good option to spend the days of Holy Week. In addition to the board games that we may have at home or those available online, we can take advantage of and rescue the traditional games of a lifetime: Parcheesi, chess, play the movies, guess the character…

If we also want to focus on the religious part of the celebration, there are also options.

9. Put a twig in the door or the window Since we will not be able to go out with the traditional palms, an initiative to live Palm Sunday within the quarantine due to the coronavirus has toured social networks in recent days. This initiative invites the faithful to put a branch, of what we have at home, in the window or on the door of the houses for Palm Sunday, as a way of living Holy Week

10. Activities for believers Other initiatives for believers to celebrate Holy Week online also appear these days on social networks. One is “iEaster 2020”, an initiative of the Salesians in which schools, youth centers, social platforms, parishes and communities have devised initiatives so that children, adolescents and young people can make the most of the time they spend at home.
