If you want to be an entrepreneur, but don’t know if entrepreneurship is for you, then you’ll be glad to know that there are certain “hidden signs” that tell you if entrepreneurship is for you or not. And even, what to do in case you still want to undertake and suddenly you are not ready for it. So, let’s see what are the indicators of entrepreneurship.
You See Opportunities Everywhere: Not just to create a business or to make money, but perhaps to improve a situation or turn something negative into something positive. One of the main requirements of an entrepreneur is to have a mind focused on identifying opportunities. And to see how they can improve things. Not like other types of people, who only focus on the problem, but without doing anything… They see something negative but they don’t think about what to do about it, how to improve it, how to correct it, or anything. And this is perhaps something that applies to everything in life. Whether it’s politics, education, employment (if you have one), home, or anything else. So spotting opportunities is a type of entrepreneurial mindset.
You Commit Obsessively Until You Achieve It: This is a characteristic that surely defines you as an entrepreneur. It is something that perhaps many people may consider a defect… And that, to a certain extent, it may be. The truth is that many people become so focused on something they want to achieve that they become obsessed with it. And of course, sometimes it can be negative; and even obsessive behavior, can become a “disorder”, and so on. But in business, it is essential. Because it is the easiest way to: Eliminate competitors, create a superior product or service, get things done faster, provide true quality and excellence. Somehow or another, as entrepreneurs we have to deal with this type of behavior to avoid perfectionism…and to be able to produce certain elements that, although not perfect, are ready for the market and many other things. So, if for some reason you have obsessively focused on a task until it has been carried out to its point of perfection, then you are cut out to be an entrepreneur.
You Know How to Set Goals Correctly: If you are someone who sets goals, sets deadlines, has goals in life, is clear about what you want to achieve and when you want it… Then you are guaranteed success as an entrepreneur. Because many people just sit and wait for what life wants to provide them. They stay hoping that things will come, but they do nothing about it. So, on many occasions we overestimate what we can achieve in a few days or a week…but we underestimate how much we can achieve in a year. And if we don’t think about those kinds of goals, it will be impossible for us to achieve success.
You Know How to Manage Rewards: This indicator is not very common in people, because it is a bit difficult to have it, but it is undoubtedly very necessary. As human beings we are accustomed to coping with our knowledge based on events prior to us, and this immediately leads us to think 100% about how to achieve everything we set out to do with the tools we have today. When you learn to control this and put it aside, only for when you have obtained certain results… Then you master that irrational mind and you can afford to be a successful entrepreneur. Because in the path of entrepreneurship there are many distractions, and these rewards are the easiest way to lose focus on the final goal.
You believe in what you are and what you do: Successful entrepreneurs believe in themselves, have a lot of self-confidence and, above all, trust in the results they can obtain. Beyond knowing that they can achieve it, they trust that the result can be positive; not only for them, but for many other people. Having your mind focused on the goal allows you to see beyond just money.
You have Decision-Making Capacity: If for some reason you are a person who doubts, who has to think for a long time before making a decision, who collects a lot of information, etc… Then it is possible that entrepreneurship is not for you. Simply because it is going to be very complicated that at the moment you have to make a decision and act (as it is practically every day in the subject of entrepreneurship)…that you do it effectively and obtain a good result. Many people are used to a boss telling them what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. Whereas entrepreneurs have it on all the time, and are able to instantly decide what to do, how to do it, and when to do it.
You Are Willing To Take Risks: If you don’t like to take risks, if you think about the fear of failing, what other people are going to say and all that sort of thing… entrepreneurship is definitely not for you, because entrepreneurship is not for everyone. The days bring risks. Now, what do I do if I don’t have those characteristics of an entrepreneur? It is possible that you do not meet all the requirements, and that you continue with some doubts that the venture is for you. Ask yourself honestly if you think you can be an entrepreneur and you should ask yourself in the following terms: A lot of discipline is required: Nobody will tell you what to do and how to do it. You will have to acquire many skills: And know everything. You will fail: Inevitably you are going to have to fail at something, and you may have to deal with that failure on your own. You will have people in charge: You may have to develop leadership skills and effective communication. In the beginning, you will work more than any employee: many hours, and maybe several years. And until you have the first employee, everything will touch only you. You will feel alone: Many people who undertake simply have to do it without accompaniment at the beginning. And the truth is that few people are going to understand you when you are just starting out.
