There are a huge world of microorganism living and coexisting in our skin. Some examples are Corynebacteria, Propionibacterium, Staphylococci, Malassezia and more.
The presence and the amount of each one, could change depending of the skin area, age, temperature, PH, genetics and probably external factors.
We know that the balance plays an important role for keep healty skin. Altering this equilibrium (dysbiosis)
- Could triggers some skin diseases
- Could make other pathogen bacteria infected easily
- Get worst skin disorders like psoriasis or atopic dermatitis
- Also is important to train our skin immune system
Is not a coincidence some of the treatments for non infections skin conditios are with antibiotics, antiparasite or antifungics.
The gut microbiome investigation is leading all the scientific information, actually there is theory that relates gut microbiome with skin disorders ( gut-skin axis), this is haven´t been conclude. I can assure in the future we will have more prebiotic and probiotic treatments for skin problems, for now we need more science studies for make stronger conclusions and recommendations.
